Webinar on Innovation procurement for C-ITS deployment in Europe
The fourth webinar of the CAPITAL ITS e-learning project will address procurement issues for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems deployment by public authorities in Europe. Experts from the CAPITAL ITS e-learning project and the SPICE project will cover key issues with public procurement in intelligent transport, including day one applications, security issues, specifications, and regulatory frameworks.

This one-hour webinar is open to all with no prior requirement. Participation to the webinar is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.
The two speakers will provide participants with a general introduction to innovative procurement approaches and SPICE (Smart Procurement for Better Transport: https://spice-project.eu/), and address the current and future steps in C-ITS procurement and deployment across Europe.

Eva Buchinger is project manager and consultant at the Austrian Institute of Technology AIT. Since 2007 she has been working on innovation procurement for the Austrian Government, the European Commission, and regional governments among others. Thereby she has been involved in pre-commercial as well as commercial procurements and is experienced in stakeholder matching (public, private, research, law etc.), procurement facilitation and preparing manuals and guides (innovation procurement model, success & failure learning).

Topic: C-ITS status of specifications and next procurement steps for deployment in Europe
- C-ITS Procurements take place in many EU countries in 2019, with the C-ITS Delegated Act already published.
- Specifications of all “Day one C-ITS applications” are publicly available and shared between road infrastructure and vehicle manufacturers.
- Furthermore, security elements based on a European PKI Infrastructure are defined and central elements are now set up.
Alexander Frötscher is Technology Advisor at AustriaTech. He was project coordinator of several EU R&D Projects (Frame-Next, Co-Cities, Coopers, etc.) and has been involved as project manager and partner in R&D projects, FOT´s and ITS deployment initiatives. He contributes to several Task Forces in the C-Roads deployment platform, which works for interoperable C-ITS in Europe. He is lecturer of ITS at Universities in Vienna, Austria and is member of ISO/CEN working groups related to C-ITS.
